About Direct Hair Implantation (DHI)
The DHI (DIRECT HAIR IMPLANT) technique is the one of the most advanced hair transplantation techniques. The technique involves removal of hair follicles from the donor area individually one by one using a very fine extractor with a diameter of 1mm or less. The hair is then placed using a single-use implanter directly on the treatment area enabling the surgeon full control over depth, angle, and direction ensuring natural results as well as being minimally invasive.
The transplanted hair grows naturally with the same texture and characteristics. Direct implantation of hair follicles with the DHI implanter provides a natural look, without visible scars on the affected area. What is the difference between DHI and FUE?
The main differences that the DHI method has compared other other techniques is that it enables the hair transplant to be performed without shaving the head. Hair follicles are transplanted in about 1-2 minutes after the extraction process so they only remain outside the body for a very short time period. It is easier to transplant between hair strands if the patient has non-balding areas on his/her scalp. It is possible to achieve higher density of hair, especially when the area to be transplanted is not spacious.
Having said that one of the main disadvantage of DHI technique is the fact the operation takes longer than the traditional FUE technique.
